Fun fact for all you beautiful people. Koalas, chimpanzees and gorillas have human-like fingerprints. Koala prints are very similar to human fingerprints, even to crime scene investigators. I love reading such random facts. Makes me learn something new everyday or just puts a smile on my face. Today’s post is about a foundation I like, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.
I have used this foundation for a long time. This foundation is the winner of many beauty awards. Moreover many celebrities and makeup artists are always singing it’s praise. And since I have used it for a while now, I thought it’s high time I review it.
The Sephora Website says Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is “An award-winning oil-free foundation that delivers medium buildable coverage and a luminous finish that leaves skin looking naturally flawless. This beauty favorite is made with patented Micro–fil™ technology. Unlike other foundations, which are made with round pigments that cause separation on the skin, Micro–fil™ technology pigments lay flat for seamless blending and layering, a flawless, second-skin effect and a lit-from-within glow.”
Packaging Of The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
The foundation comes in a frosted glass bottle with a pump to dispense the product. Also there is a Giorgio Armani logo on the bottle cap. The glass bottle also has the name of the foundation and the brand name on it in black lettering. This foundation bottle looks very chic and expensive.
Formula Of The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
Giorgio Armani luminous silk is a medium coverage liquid foundation, with a natural looking finish which is suitable for normal, dry, combination and oily skin. It has no SPF and no shimmer. It is a super lightweight, silky smooth, sheer foundation, but is very easily buildable. I find that it dries down fairly quickly, so I apply it with my trusted beauty blender sponge.
Shades Of The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
Giorgio Armani luminous silk comes in 40 shades that are classified into groups Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Deep. It’s an expensive foundation so it good to get color matched at Sephora or Nordstrom. Giorgio Armani beauty website has a shade finder that could help. Sephora website also has a shade finder that could be beneficial. I am NC 35 – 40 for reference and I use the shade 5.75.
I purchased this foundation after trying out a few samples, and I am very glad I did! I use the shade 5.75 and it lasts 8 hours before starting to fade. Luminous silk does not feel like a mask and gives me a nice coverage with a stunning finish. A little goes a long way. I do not use a lot of product as I prefer light to medium coverage. Not that I have perfect skin. Far from it. I have acne damage from years of hormonal acne. But still I like my real skin showing through, so I prefer light t o medium coverage.
On a good skin day I like to mix this foundation with my moisturizer. Sometimes I apply it over my primer with my beauty blender. One to two pumps are perfect for me depending on how my skin is behaving. If I use a brush to apply this I need more pumps. It sets to a velvet/matte finish with a touch of shine when first applied. This foundation is not chalky or powdery and transforms into a luminous satin finish as the day progresses. Also Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation photographs beautifully. Fragrance is mild and dissipates fast.
- Works on my sensitive acne prone skin
- Photo friendly
- Very lightweight, no cakey feeling
- I would suggest you moisturize before applying this moisturizer if you have dry skin
- Some people might want more coverage
